A Hamilton-based law firm has promoted three lawyers in its commercial team.

McCaw Lewis has elevated Jonathan Aquilina and Laura Monahan to senior associates, while Ashlea Murphy has been promoted to associate.

Aquilina, who has extensive overseas experience, is an expert in complex construction, engineering and property development matters. He qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2005 and as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand in 2016.

He was previously with London-headquartered international firms Trowers & Hamlins, legacy Olswang, and Osborne Clarke. He also previously worked at Bell Gully. He joined McCaw Lewis as a senior legal professional in 2014.

Monahan’s practice covers company law, commercial contracts, capital raising and securities law, the Overseas Investment Act, and joint ventures and limited partnerships. She started her legal career at Russell McVeagh, before moving in-house to Circle Health in London. She joined McCaw Lewis in 2012 and was promoted to associate in 2015.

Murphy also has experience in both New Zealand and the UK. Her work focuses on residential sale and purchase transactions, unit titles and body corporate issues, wills, trusts, estate administration, and workplace law.
