Solicitor jobs posted online surge

by Sol Dolor20 Oct 2017
There was a surge of solicitor jobs posted online in New Zealand for the September quarter.

Data from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) reveal that online advertisements for solicitor positions increased by 37% in the third quarter, compared to the same quarter in 2016.

However, MBEI appears to not be tracking the other legal sector category – “conveyancers and legal executives” – anymore. In the second quarter of 2017, the category experienced a massive 47% drop against the comparable previous-year quarter.

The “judicial and other legal professionals” category saw an 11% year-on-year increase in the number of jobs posted online.

These increases are larger than the 7% average growth across all jobs posted online in the period, the MBIE data reveal. The ministry culls its data from the SEEK, Trade Me Jobs, and Education Gazette online job boards.
