PwC has launched a legal practice in Hong Kong, forming an alliance with former King & Wood Mallesons and O’Melveny & Myers lawyers.
David Tiang, a former KWM partner based in Beijing, has launched independent law firm Tiang & Co with former O’Melveny Hong Kong partner Gigi Woo and counsel Joyce Tung. PwC Legal international, a Singapore-licensed foreign law practice, has entered into an association with Tiang & Co.
The practice will work closely on Chinese and Hong Kong inbound and outbound M&A, business reorganisations, regulatory compliance, and general corporate and commercial work.
Tiang, who joined KWM right after it merged in 2012 with Australian firm Mallesons, specializes in regulatory and compliance work. He has extensive in-house experience as the former China general counsel of Wal-Mart and as an in-house legal counsel of General Electric in Asia.
Woo, who joined O’Melveny in 2012, specializes in capital markets matters. She previously worked for Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, and Goldman Sachs.
