The MERW team, which helped the ANZ lending services team raise more than $50,000 for the charity’s annual Daffodil Day, raised a total of $15,000. MERW initially set out to raise $5,000, eventually increasing the goal to $10,000, which they comfortably beat.
“We are overwhelmed with the support we’ve been given towards this initiative. When we first took up the Big Shave challenge thrown down to us by our friends at ANZ, we thought $5,000 would be a stretch. But thanks to the generous support of our staff, family, friends and wider networks, we've managed to raise a massive $15,000 to help Kiwis coping with cancer. We are incredibly grateful for their support,” said Michael Langdon, MERW’s banking and financial services division leader.
The event, dubbed “The Big Shave,” raised more than $66,000. The money will be used to support patients with cancer and their families as well as to fund research to combat cancer.
