Movers and shakers: June appointments

by Hannah Norton22 Jun 2015
New hires and promotions have been the hallmark of June for two New Zealand firms.

Duncan Cotterill announced the appointment of litigation lawyer Joanna Stafford to Special Counsel last Thursday.

Stafford specialises in civil litigation, particularly in the insurance field - acting for a number of liability and general insurers advising on indemnity issues and defending insured claims.

Willie Hamilton and Katherine Forward were also announced as two new associates in the firm’s Christchurch office.

Hamilton specialises in litigation and dispute resolution, with a particular focus on insurance litigation.  Forward is an environmental lawyer with particular expertise in the rural sector, including irrigation development, change of land use and nutrient management, and all associated resource consenting and plan change matters.

Five lawyers have also been promoted to senior solicitors - Anya Park and Sinead Dennis (Auckland); Michael Beck, Charlotte Johnson, and Tristan Sage (Christchurch).

Meanwhile, two new lawyers have been hired at Anderson Lloyd.

Holly Anderson has joined the firm’s Auckland commercial team as a solicitor.

Previously, Anderson worked for four years at Auckland’s Mayne Wetherell, gaining broad experience in corporate, commercial, banking and finance.

Olivia Wensley has joined the firm’s Queenstown-based litigation team. She has previous legal experience in Auckland, Queenstown and Sydney and she also spent two years working as an in-house lawyer for a large bank in Singapore, with a focus on investment banking, derivatives and commodities trading.
