McCaw Lewis has promoted several lawyers to senior roles, including one to special counsel.
Jonathan Aquilina has been named special counsel. Laura Monahan and Dale Thomas have been appointed as managing associates.
Aquilina joined the firm in 2014 and is a member of the commercial team. He has extensive experience and is an expert in complex construction, engineering and property development matters.
Also part of the firm’s commercial team, Monahan’s appointment acknowledges her skill and ability to assist with the firm’s management, the firm said. The lawyer, who joined the firm in 2012, said she was looking forward to the challenge of the role, the management of the firm’s commercial team, and helping achieve client goals.
Thomas is a member of the firm’s property team who joined the firm in 2015. His appointment recognised his growing leadership role in the firm, McCaw Lewis said. He has worked across the property, asset planning and commercial teams on projects involving iwi property interests, farm succession, syndication, and leasehold issues, it said.
McCaw Lewis has also appointed Luke Paerata as senior solicitor and Chantelle Tyler as law clerk.
The promotions come after the firm promoted two members of its Māori legal team in October, when Kylee Katipo was promoted to associate and Connie Bollen was elevated to senior solicitor.
