Litigation expert Helen Macfarlane has joined the Hesketh Henry
Macfarlane, a specialist in litigation, earned a BA in English and politics and a masters in philosophy in Auckland before studying law at Oxford. She was then admitted as a barrister in London, before moving to New York.
For 15 years, Macfarlane specialised in commercial litigation and international arbitration at elite New York firm Shearman & Sterling. She joined Hesketh Henry in 2007 as a senior associate, before being promoted to special counsel.
Macfarlane has extensive knowledge in construction litigation, director obligations, insider trading, and securities fraud. She has also represented both plaintiffs and defendants in class and derivative actions.
At Hesketh Henry, Macfarlane is a member of the litigation and dispute resolution team. She handles insurance, construction law, and commercial property dispute matters.
Hesketh Henry now has 14 partners, six of whom are in the litigation and dispute resolution team. Macfarlane’s appointment comes after Simon Cartwright, a transport and trade specialist in the litigation and dispute resolution team, joined the partnership earlier this year after 16 years working in London and Dubai.
