Lane Neave bolsters corporate practice with appointment of new partner

Lane Neave has welcomed a new partner to its ranks as it seeks to strengthen its corporate practice. The firm announced Friday it brought in Evelyn Jones, an industry veteran with more than ten years’ experience in all aspects of banking and financial services law.

“The appointment aligns with our firm-wide growth plan, enhancing our national strengths, adding depth to our presence in the local Auckland market and bringing additional support to our national clients,” said managing partner Andrew Shaw.

Before joining Lane Neave, Jones worked at other major law firms in New Zealand and in London. She has also worked in-house at a major bank and a leading consumer finance product company in New Zealand, the firm said.

Jones has also coordinated of offshore counsel in relation to the granting of local law governed securities and guarantees, as well as acting as New Zealand counsel on international transactions. She has also advised overseas banks on establishing New Zealand subsidiaries, including in relation to their registration as a bank with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. 

“Evelyn’s commercial experience, judgement, technical ability and exceptional client focus make Evelyn a valuable addition to the partnership of the firm,” Shaw added.

The appointment brings the total number of partners to 24 with five in the firm’s Auckland office. The firm has more than 130 staff working out of the firm’s offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown.
