McMillan, who previously worked at Chapman Tripp
, has more than 13 years’ experience in his field, specialising in a broad range of commercial disputes.
“As well as his specialist knowledge, James has impressed us with his commercial sense, clear focus, and alignment with our own aspirations and style. I am delighted that Kensington Swan continues to be attractive to talented and ambitious people like James,” said Charles Spillane

“I look forward to welcoming him to the firm and helping him achieve his ambition of growing his practice and delivering for our clients.”
McMillan, who joined Kensington Swan on August 15, frequently advises insolvency practitioners and creditors on receiverships, liquidations, administrations and compromises.
In recent years, he’s been involved in some of the country’s most high profile insolvencies and restructurings.
The veteran lawyer was recognised in Chambers’ Asia Pacific rankings for 2015 as a high-achieving practitioner and “one to watch”.
Kensington Swan said that they agree which is why they set about securing his appointment.
The firm said that McMillan’s expertise adds depth to their existing litigation capability and ensures the firm’s ability to provide the best service to clients.
“I am delighted to have joined Kensington Swan. It has a reputation amongst its clients for delivering outstanding service and I’m excited to be part of that,” McMillan said.
