Holland Beckett expands partnership

Holland Beckett Law has expanded its partnership to 12.

The Bay of Plenty firm has welcomed Christie Goodspeed and Sam Tabak to the partnership as the firm strategically grows its specialist teams.

The appointments benefit the firm in a number of ways, partner Vanessa Hamm said. Goodspeed and Tabak are great examples of the firm attracting experienced lawyers who can build a team and provide quality service.

The depth and strength of the firm’s teams in turn play a key role in attracting new work from large corporate- and public-sector clients who often have panels of legal advisors to select from, he said.

The appointments expand the Holland Beckett partnership to 12. The firm has 105 staff working out of offices in Tauranga, Rotorua, Whakatane, and Opotiki.

Goodspeed is a specialist in all employment-related matters, including structuring relationships, policy drafting, restructurings, sale and purchase of business or shares, and disputes. She is also experienced in relationship property, including in advising on structuring arrangements, contracting-out agreements, and relationship division after separation or death.

She was previously a senior associate at PwC Australia in Sydney and is qualified in both New Zealand and New South Wales.

Tabak specialises in commercial and finance matters. He has extensive experience in a wide range of finance, corporate, restructuring, and international trade matters. He is also experienced in aviation and asset finance, with a focus on financing, leasing, acquisitions, and sales. He also advises on trade sanctions, disputes, and repossessions in the aviation sector.

He started his legal career at MinterEllisonRuddWatts, before joining Clifford Chance as a senior associate in London. He then became counsel at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, before returning to New Zealand and joining Holland Beckett.

Tabak is qualified in both New Zealand and England and Wales.
