With the imminent start of all High Court and District Court services at the new Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct, the New Zealand Law Society is offering four guided tours exclusively for lawyers in November.

The tours, offered by the Canterbury-Westland arm of the Law Society, aim to familiarise lawyers who frequent the courts with particular areas they may be interested in inside the Justice Building.

The tours, which will be held on 9, 10, 13, and 14 November at 4:30pm, are limited to just 30 lawyers per tour. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Lawyers can book their preferred tour until 3 November by emailing

The Ministry of Justice will also be holding mock courts from 31 October to 8 November to test courtroom-related procedures and processes in the new precinct. The ministry is looking for lawyers to play various roles in the mock courts.
