The former leader of Buddle Findlay’s tax practice has established his own firm in Auckland.
Neil Russ has launched Russ + Associates, which also includes senior associates Alexandra Tunnicliffe and Charlotte Beale, the Law Society reported. The new firm specialises in tax and anti-money laundering and countering financing of terrorism (AML/CFT).
Russ was a long-time Buddle Findlay partner, having spent more than 24 years at the leading firm. He was also previously a lawyer at Clifford Chance.
Russ is known for his expertise in corporate and income tax, GST, and cross-border transactions. He is also one of New Zealand’s leading lawyers in the area of AML/CFT.
Tunnicliffe specialises in tax and has particular experience in binding rulings, tax investigations and disputes, and compliance, including with the US’ Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), New Zealand’s Automatic Exchange of Information and the Common Reporting Standard (AEOI/CRS), and AML/CFT. She was previously at Buddle Findlay, Inland Revenue, and KPMG New Zealand.
Beale is an expert in tax and private wealth who works on tax, FATCA, AEOI/CRS, and AML/CFT matters. She has particular expertise in asset structuring, trusts, charities, wills, and relationship property.
