Freshfields acts on $5.3bn buyout

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is acting for Hellman & Friedman in one of Europe’s biggest buyout deals.

Freshfields advised Hellman on the $5.3bn acquisition of Nets, a digital payment provider. Nets is being acquired by Evergood, a company controlled by funds managed and advised by Hellmans, The Lawyer reported.

The Freshfields team was headed up by partners David Higgins, Tim Wilmot and Andrew Hutchings and senior associate Keir MacLennan. The firm was supported by Danish law firm Kromann Reumert. Latham & Watkins handled financing aspects of the deal, The Lawyer reported.

Nets was advised by Danish firm Gorrissen Federspiel.

The offer is the largest buyout in Europe this year, The Lawyer reported.
