Kensington Swan has announced the appointment of Wook Jin Lee to its corporate and commercial team as special counsel. Lee is intended to join the firm’s partnership once he has fulfilled the NZ Law Society’s regulatory requirements.
Lee has 12 years of specialist legal experience advising listed issuers, private businesses, and private equity fund managers on a wide variety of corporate advisory, governance, and transactional matters – including mergers, acquisitions, divestments and equity capital raisings. He is also experienced in dealing with joint ventures, competitive processes and foreign investment issues, and negotiation of business-critical commercial contracts, particularly in the electricity distribution sector.
With Kensington Swan scheduled to combine with Dentons in early 2020, the firm said that Lee’s addition is a strategic step in its continuing growth. As a fluent Korean speaker, Lee is also expected to strengthen the firm’s existing Asia business practice led by Heida Donegan.
“Wook is highly skilled in the corporate space and has a real focus and energy on growing his practice,” said Chris Parke, corporate partner at Kensington Swan. “We’re delighted to welcome him into our team and I’m confident that he will be a fantastic addition and great success at Kensington Swan from day one.”
“Wook joins us with an excellent reputation in the market forged at one of the leading boutique firms,” said Charles Spillane, chief executive at Kensington Swan. “We’re delighted to welcome him to the firm. He is a highly talented and energetic lawyer who will be a fantastic contributor to the growth of our corporate and commercial team.”
