Gabrielle Wagner has been appointed as a judge of the District Court, Attorney-General David Parker has announced.
The Auckland barrister, who will exercise the jurisdiction of the Family Court, has been a specialist in family law since 1988, when she started her legal career with Cairnes Slane.
In 1990, she joined Morrison Morpheth, before moving to McCabe McMahon in 1993. She became a partner at the firm in 1996 and became a barrister sole in 1999.
She has practised extensively in all areas of family and has conducted several Family Court appeals. She has also been appointed to several leadership positions in the Auckland District Law Society and the New Zealand Law Society.
The new judge, who will be based in Manukau, will be sworn in on 12 July in Auckland.
