Anthony Harper makes senior appointments

Anthony Harper has hired a special counsel, a special advisor, and several senior associates.

Annelies McClure, who was previously the chief executive of the Overseas Investment Commission and former head of the Overseas Investment Office, has joined the firm as a special counsel. She is an expert of the Overseas Investment Act 2005, as well as public policy, government processes, and judicial review of statutory decisions.

Anthony Harper has also named Bridget Riley a special advisor, tax and trusts, a newly created position.  It has also appointed Kate Morrison, Luana Nickles, and Matt Smith as senior associates. The firm has appointed Natasha Razak to associate.

Riley is a veteran in the tax industry, having worked nearly 25 years in the sector at the likes of EY, BDO, and PwC. She is an expert in tax matters related to business structuring, M&A, disposals, cross-border deals, transfer pricing, compliance, profit repatriation, employee relocation, offshore investments, Inland Revenue disputes, property transactions, and asset management.

Morrison is a public law and commercial litigation expert. She has particular experience in consumer law regulatory investigations, including Commerce Commission investigations. Morrison joined the firm in Auckland from specialist litigation firm Wilson Harle.

Nickles is an employment law specialist lawyer. She acts for public- and private-sector clients in both contentious and non-contentious workplace law matters. Nickles joined the firm in Auckland from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where she was seconded to the Victorian Department of Education and Training in Melbourne.

Smith specialise in commercial law, with a particular focus on technology and emerging companies. He has extensive experience in tackling joint ventures, shareholders’ agreements, M&A, capital raises, systems supply and support, licensing, systems integration, outsourcing, and as-a-service arrangements. He joined the firm Auckland from Simpson Grierson.

Razak has experience with two top US firms, having worked at Goldman Sachs, White & Case, and Latham & Watkins as a bank finance associate in London. She also founded an e-commerce marketing platform in New Zealand before joining Anthony Harper in Christchurch. She is an expert in corporate advisory and banking law, including advising in cross-border leveraged buyouts, acquisition finance, and restructuring.
