Anthony Harper has appointed Katherine Anderson as its twenty-sixth partner. She will join the top firm in late March.
Anderson is currently director of legal and risk and a member of the senior executive leadership team of the Auckland Council, which she joined in February 2014. She is also a member of the Human Rights Review Tribunal.
Anderson started her law career in private practice at Chapman Tripp. She then joined the Crown Law Office and then transferred to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, where she became advisor for Prime Ministers Helen Clark and John Key.
From 2011, she was with the New Zealand Police, first representing the organisation in the Pike River Royal Commission, and later becoming the general manager for policy, performance and legal of the organisation’s executive team.
Anderson won the In-House Lawyer of the Year at the 2016 New Zealand Law Awards. In 2015, her 50-strong Auckland Council team was awarded the In-House team of the Year.
