No truer words and insights have been said about partnership models and the fact that the generation coming through do not buy into them. Great talent is walking away from private practice as they struggle to align their values to a model that measures time in units and the bottom line is to make money. This generation want to feel that what they do is meaningful and sustainable.
At least 70% of candidates we meet ask what's in house before looking at private practice.
Law firms are going to struggle to attract and retain this wonderful talent if they don't change and come up with innovative new models or pathways that engage this talent. You are right this generation has many choices and they will exercise their independence and freedom to follow their passion - they will not sell their soul to the corporate model.
