    Perhaps those who view their BD function as more sophisticated are those who view the Business Development as strategic, with Marketing as tactical/execution; this differentiation is often a positive step towards making a real difference.

    Likewise, those developing more highly leveraged BD functions; with BD (often using internal and external resources) acting in an enabling role, helping improve capability and the resources available for all partners and staff.
