This drafting solution can save you time

A whopping 85% of lawyers are under time pressure when checking and proofreading documents, and nearly half has knowingly skipped a proofreading step, according to a recent survey by LexisNexis.

Considering 90% of lawyers draft and review documents on a daily basis, LexisNexis has developed a legal drafting and proofreading solution designed for busy lawyers – fully integrated with Microsoft Word and Outlook.

“One exciting new feature is a language review tool that can scan a document and quickly suggest edits to make the language more clear and concise,” said LexisNexis spokesperson Kristin Scollay.

“The user can access tools such as legal proofreading checks, legal research tools, company information, collaboration tools, and pdf conversion, all without leaving their document.”

Part of the LexisNexis SmartOffice suite, Lexis Draft Pro is aimed at optimising workflow and productivity, giving lawyers the time to do what matters most, Scollay said.

“The stakes can be high, both for the client and the lawyer,” she said.

“At LexisNexis we understand the drafting process and what lawyers need to produce accurate, consistent and complete legal documents in a fraction of the time.

“With Lexis Draft Pro we have provided a smart toolkit that gives lawyers back time they would usually spend on repetitious manual checks.”

The solution acts as a safety net to protect the user’s reputation, making it easier to catch errors, and giving the user peace of mind that the documents are accurate, complete and consistent.

“Seventy-five per cent of lawyers see real value in using technology to aid the drafting process, and yet the drafting tools used by most practitioners haven’t changed in decades,” Scollay said.

“In the current economic climate lawyers are increasingly under pressure to produce more work and higher billings with less time and resources.”
