World’s strongest law firm brand revealed
Legal professional research firm Acritas has published its annual survey of law firm brands and named Baker & McKenzie as the strongest brand for the seventh consecutive year.
“Baker & McKenzie’s long term commitment to its global strategy has enabled the firm to flourish while others are still investing to put the cornerstones of a sound global strategy in place” said Lisa Hart Shepherd, CEO of Acritas.
Clifford Chance, DLA Piper
, Norton Rose Fulbright and Hogan Lovells complete the top 5 in the rankings which are based on analysis of answers from over 1100 interviews with legal buyers at organizations with revenue of at least U$1 billion.
Among the rising stars, Allen & Overy and Linklaters have turned around a long run of decline in the rankings while Dentons has emerged as the strongest challenger brand to those in the top 10 (which also includes Freshfields, Jones Day and White & Case) and noted for having global strength that is greater than its legacy component parts.
Former Commonwealth Bank executive joins Dentons
Neal Livingston, former managing director and general manager of global trade and transactions at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, has joined Dentons as global chief financial officer.
He has already taken up his role at the global law firm, based in its London office, and will oversee all aspects of the Firm’s global strategic and operational finance functions.
CEO designate elected at Eversheds
Following an uncontested election, Eversheds managing partner Lee Ranson has been named chief executive designate. He joined the firm in 1990 and led its real estate litigation group and then the real estate practice group before becoming managing partner in 2009.
Ranson will succeed Bryan Hughes and will begin his four-year term in May 2017.
International firm adds aviation finance partner in Singapore
Watson Farley & Williams has hired Samuel Kolehmainen as a partner in its aviation finance practice.
Kolehmainen was previously with Clifford Chance where he was a senior associate and prior to that was in Ireland as in-house counsel at an aircraft operating lessor.
