How to win a New Zealand Law Award

by NZ Lawyer13 Jul 2016
Online nominations for the 2016 New Zealand Law Awards are open until next Friday 22 July. With 27 award categories open for entry, legal professionals in private practice and in-house have plenty of opportunity to gain recognition for their achievements over the past year.
The categories are broadly divided into three groups:
  • Deal awards, recognising the most significant transactions that have shaped the business landscape. This year the event will also recognise the teams that have pushed these deals through to fruition with the introduction of two new categories: Deal Team of the Year (>100 Employees) and Deal Team of the Year (<100 Employees)
  • In-house awards, recognising the best lawyers and teams working in the in-house legal function of companies and organisations in New Zealand
  • Firm awards, recognising leading firms and individuals working in private practice. Categories separate firms by size or by specialisation. This year the Managing Partner of the Year category has been split to recognise law firm leaders at the helm of firms with less than 100 employees and more than 100 employees

Nominations are judged on their quality not quantity so when preparing entries, NZ Lawyer readers are reminded to address the specific criteria listed for each category to best demonstrate their performance. Quantitative evidence such as statistics and details on financial performance should be included where appropriate if available. Information provided in nominations does remain confidential and is only made available to the judging panel.
