Three commercial litigation and insurance partners have left Fortune Manning for Duncan Cotterill, bringing a team of 11 with them.
Partners Paul Smith, Rob Coltman and Geoff Turner joined Duncan Cotterill
’s Auckland team yesterday as part of a strategy to strengthen the firm’s litigation and insurance services practice.
“I’m really looking forward to working with a new team and accessing the expertise that Duncan Cotterill
can offer in those fields where we haven’t practiced in the past,” Smith told NZ Lawyer
commenting on the move.
“Geoff, Rob and I feel that our practice is a good fit with Duncan Cotterill
, on both a personal and professional level.”
The move follows the promotion of four new partners to in the firm’s litigation team.
Chair Richard smith said the move makes the Duncan Cotterill
’s Auckland litigation team one of the largest in the country.
“The firm is enjoying significant growth across all parts of our business on the back of a strong economy and meeting the diverse and increasing needs of our clients,” said chair Richard Smith.

Smith said the firm will look to continue growth in Health & Safety, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Public Law and Resource Management sectors.
“What will continue to underpin the firm is our strong full service presence in Auckland, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch which enables us offer clients a one or multi – office service wherever they do business across New Zealand.”
