A law office in downtown Auckland narrowly escaped a major fire this week thanks to sprinklers.
In a stuff report, it was revealed a fire started at the records section of the Farry.Co law office at the Harbour View Building on Quay Street shortly after 2pm on Wednesday.
The publication says that eight fire engines and more than 20 firefighters rushed to the scene to battle the fire but that sprinklers had put out the fire.
Assistant area commander Roger Callister said his firefighters entered the 11th floor of the 16-floor building to be pleasantly surprised that the sprinklers work as they were designed to.
An investigation is ongoing.
