NZLawyer is a weekly, legal news and opinion service designed specifically for New Zealand’s legal professionals. Originally a fortnightly print magazine, with the introduction of NZLawyer extra, on 7 May, New Zealand legal professionals can now find out the latest legal news and opinions every Friday.
Our mission is to ensure that New Zealand’s legal profession is well informed about the important legal issues affecting lawyers, law firms, and their clients in New Zealand. We also aim to cover the leading international legal news stories that may impact, either directly or indirectly, on the practice of law in New Zealand. In addition, NZLawyer acts as a ‘community newspaper’, focusing on the successes, challenges, and trends of the New Zealand legal profession.
NZLawyer provides lawyers around the country, and overseas, with a chance to have their say on matters of importance to the profession, be they jurisprudential, social, or political. Unafraid of championing the intellectual might inherent in the profession, we want to provoke thought and opinion. To that end, we encourage lawyers around New Zealand to contribute their opinions – either by letters to the editor or in-depth legal articles – about the areas of the law in which they work and about which they are passionate. In the few short years since NZLawyer entered the market, it has had the privilege of seeing articles it has published – written by some of New Zealand’s finest legal minds and debating extensively crucial areas of the law – being referred to in Court.
NZLawyer is proud to be associated with the New Zealand Law Awards, through which the excellence of lawyers is celebrated. The Law Awards enable clients to vote and have their say on how their lawyers have performed, thereby providing lawyers with the best possible feedback.
NZLawyer wants to hear from the members of New Zealand’s legal profession, and invites those of you who want to have your say, to contact the publisher at angela.jacobsen@lexisnexis.co.nz
